Child Day Care Aide

Assist the Child Day Care Manager and Senior Staff in the classroom instruction and developmental and recreational activities for combined preschool and school age children. Works under the direct supervision of the staff person in charge of the group of children to whom the aide is assigned.

Provide instructional and behavioral support to the Day Care Manager and Senior Staff on duty. Assists in the daily activities of the children in the program.  Implements and supervises activities (under the direct supervision of staff on duty) for a group of children in the program.   May be assigned to work at multiple locations.

Must possess a current physical and PPD (tine test).  Must possess a current negative background check through Maryland State Police. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a vehicle for work, or transportation to the work site. Must be at least 16 years old. Must be CPR and First Aid certified.

Child Care Senior Staff

Assist the Child Day Care Manager in the classroom instruction and developmental and recreational activities for combined preschool and school age children. Works under the direct supervision of the Day Care Manager.

Provide instructional and behavioral support to the Day Care Manager. Assists the Day Care Manager in the daily activities of the children in the program.  Plans, implements, and supervises activities for a group of children within the program. Accompanies children to the dining room, restroom, another classroom, or playground as needed.  May be assigned to work at multiple locations.

Must possess a current physical and PPD (tine test).  Must possess a current negative background check through Maryland State Police. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a vehicle available for work. Must be at least 19 years old. Must be CPR and First Aid certified.

Classroom Substitutes

Applicant must be able to plan and implement center programs in accordance with day care regulations and requirements; assist in managing total center operations; prepare daily instructions, planning and follow up activities; and maintain student and family confidentiality.  Must maintain accurate daily attendance records and monthly center reports and perform other duties as assigned by the center teacher.

Applicant must be 21 years of age.  Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must have the completed the 99-hour child care course with experience working with preschool age children and/or completion of the 45 hour Infant and Toddler class. An AA or BA/BS is preferred but not required.

Substitute Assistant Teacher

Assist the Teacher or Assistant Teacher in the absence of one of the teaching staff in the classroom instruction and development activities for preschool or for infant & toddler children.  Works under the direction of the attending classroom staff.

Provide instructional and behavioral support to the Teacher or Assistant Teacher within the classroom.  Assist the teacher in daily activities in the classroom.  Accompanies children to the dining room, bathroom, or playground as needed.

Must possess a current physical and PPD (tine test).  Must possess a current negative background check through the Maryland State Police.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a vehicle available for work.  Must be at least 18 years old.

Head Start Special Needs Aide/Grantsville

Minimum Qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 99 hours of classroom training in preschool education. One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Successful Applicants must complete a pre-employment physical exam, possess a valid driver’s license, pass a TB screening, have First Aid/CPR Certification and obtain a state/federal criminal background check.

Special Needs Assistant

Assist the Garrett County CAC Center Teacher in classroom instruction and developmental activities for pre-school children.  Works under direct supervision of the trained Head Start Teacher.

Provide instructional and behavioral support to the Head Start and Board of Education staff within the classroom.  Assist in preparation and carry through with individual behavior management programs on a one-to-one basis with designated students.  Assist in implementing the IEP’s developed by the Board of Education.

Must pass a pre-employment physical and do so every two years thereafter.  Must pass a criminal background check by Maryland State Police.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a vehicle available for work.  Must have an annual TB test.  Must be at least 21 years of age.

Minimum Qualifications include:  HS Diploma or GED,  Must be 19 years old, completed 6 semester hours or 99 clock hours in child development and the 45 hour Infant and Toddler certification.  1 year of experience working with children.  Prefer an AA in Early Childhood Education plus experience preferred.
