Garrett county Community Action is the developer and owner of over 400 units of rental housing. GCCAC also builds single family homes that are sold to persons graduating from its First Time Home Buyers Program. To make building sites affordable and accessible to low and moderate income homebuyers, GCCAC has also developed single family subdivisions for the purpose of selling lots to home buyers.

LIBERTY MEWS

GCCAC started construction in October for Liberty Mews, a 36 unit lease purchase housing development in Oakland.  Mews will provide opportunity for tenants to eventually purchase the home they lease at an affordable price.

First United Bank and Trust provided much of the equity investment.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Ray Skinner makes comments at the Liberty Mews groundbreaking.

Robin Summerfield, Western Maryland Representative of U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Maryland DHCD Secretary Ray Skinner and Oakland Mayor Peggy Jamison initiate construction for Liberty Mews.

Liberty Mews received significant financing from the State of Maryland and through the Federal National Recovery Program.  It is also part of a planned residential development known as River Hill and received support from the town of Oakland for its mixed income and creative design.

Ron Waters, Deputy Director of Neighborhood Revitalization, Cindy Sharon, GCCAC Director of Housing and Real Estate Development and Michelle Bass, Maryland CSBG Director celebrate the Liberty Mews groundbreaking.
