INVITATION TO BID - Fire Escape at 319 S. 3rd Street
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. is accepting sealed bids to manufacture and install a 3 tier, free standing steel fire escape at the property located at 319 S. Third St. Oakland, Md. 21550.
 
Interested contractors should attend a pre-bid meeting at the project location on Friday, July 28th at 10:00 am. These are the specifications for the project (click here), and blue prints (click here) of the fire escape and proposed porch changes (seperate bid), and both will be available at the pre-bid meeting. Contractor will be responsible for getting any and all permits and inspections including but not limited to State Fire Marshall, county and state; materials to complete project and cleanup and removal of all debris off site.

CLARIFICATION:
 
C1. There are 2 bids. The first for demolition and rebuild of porches and sidewalks, doors, steps and water lines. Doors, steps, and water lines are additional to the demo bid. You should have 4 quotes. Each item is it's own quote. The second bid is for fire escape install.
 
C2. Each contractor is to apply for his own permits with both the Town if Oakland and The County. Contractors will need to supply insurance  information, w-9, and lead certification.
 
POSTED QUESTIONS:
 
Q1. Will there be a cement pad under the fire escape?
Yes.
 
Q2. Will fire escape need detailed drawing of stairs of fire escape?
Doug of Deep Creek Design was called on speaker phone while on site and asked this question. He stated he will send the current prints to the State Fire Marshal for review. Doug stated that he should know something in about a week.
 
Q3. Will this extend the fire escape bid?
I (Elaine) am not certain of this answer and will refer to the Town of Oakland. The question will be re-posted with the answer.
 
Q4. Who is responsible for the fire escape prints being approved by the State Fire Marshal?
The contractor who wins the bid for the fire escape.
 
Q5. Will the contractor installing the fire escape pour a cement pad under it?
Yes.
