Head Start provides a positive learning environment and developmentally appropriate experiences to children 3 to 5 years of age at five locations throughout Garrett County. The goal of Head Start is to provide services to families and children that ensure children enter Kindergarten fully ready to learn. Health, Nutrition, and Parent and Family Support services are available to all parents/guardians through small and large group and 1-on-1 coaching experiences.

The Garrett County Judy Center is part of a state wide effort operated by Garrett County Community Action in partnership with Garrett County Public Schools. The Judy Center collaborates with early childhood educational programs and provides parent engagement opportunities for families with children (ages 0-5) residing in the Yough Glades and Friendsville school attendance areas, in an effort to increase the number of children entering school ready to learn! Judy Centers are unique because they promote school readiness through a close relationship with early childhood educators, children, families, community agencies, organizations and businesses!
