Early Head Start Teacher
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. is accepting applications for the following position within the Division of Child and Family Development:
 
Early Head Start Teacher – Content Specialist I or II (based on qualifications)
 
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and implementing early childhood educational activities for infant and/or toddler age children participating in an Early Head Start center based classroom. Duties include, but aren’t limited to, the implementation of curriculum, supervision of children, developmental assessments, monitoring child progress and maintaining communication with parents, co-workers and collaborative partners. There is an immediate opening in Oakland, MD, but applications can be used for 6 months for positions throughout Garrett County.
 
This is a permanent, full-time position offering a Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm schedule with an additional 30 minutes paid from 3:30 – 4:00 pm. Minimum starting rate of $14.73 per hour (based on experience). This position offers full Community Action benefits including health insurance, a MD State Pension plan, a flex spending account (FSA), 14 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 18 sick days per year.
 
Qualifications Requirements: Must have an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with relevant coursework in Infant and Toddler Development or a Child Development Associate. The applicant should have at least one year experience working with infant and toddler age children.
 
The applicant must pass criminal and CPS background checks, possess a valid driver’s license and meet other pre-employment hiring criteria.

Family Service Coordinator 1

Family Service Coordinator 1
 
Garrett County Community Action is recruiting for a Garrett County Judy Center Family Service Coordinator. The Judy Center is a state funded program whose staff help prepare children age birth through kindergarten for school readiness. The successful applicant must have practical knowledge and understanding of family services, coordinated case management, early childhood education and family engagement. He/she must be able to plan and coordinate services and parent engagement activities, have outstanding communication and computer skills and the ability to work in a confidential and professional manner when working with children, families and partners.
 
Key components of the position include:
o Assisting families in Pathway Goal Planning to help them identify needs and access services
o Coordinating services with staff and partners to ensure that families can support their child’s school readiness
o Planning and implementing parent-child activities and trainings
o Coordinating ongoing outreach activities to engage child care partners and eligible families with the Garrett County Judy Center
o Maintaining adequate data collection to monitor progress and track services, referrals, and collaborations
 
Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred. An Associate’s Degree in Human Services or Early Childhood Education, or related field with 2 years of experience is acceptable.

The successful applicant must be able to plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities for preschool or infant/toddler age children enrolled in a center based classroom. Basic duties include assisting the teacher in managing the classroom, student supervision, preparation of daily lesson plans, maintaining accurate records, completing reports and performing other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and Site Manager. There is an immediate opening in Oakland, MD, but applications can be used for 6 months for positions throughout Garrett County.

Substitutes for Classroom, Lunch Aide/Cook, Bus Aide and Clerical – Content Support
 
The successful applicants will be responsible for working with children ages birth to 5 years old in the classroom setting, preparing and serving family style meals to children and staff, safe transportation of children in an aide role to the bus driver and/or performing clerical duties. Substitutes are needed in all locations of Garrett County with a current pay rate of $12.50 per hour. This position offers flexibility to work when you are available, a Monday-Friday day shift schedule paid sick leave and the opportunity to advance into a permanent position.
 
Minimum Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED and must be 19 years old.

Substitute Receptionist (Admin Support)

Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., is accepting applications for Substitute Admin Support Receptionist. This position is responsible for answering all incoming calls to the agency and connecting the caller to the correct department. Documents and scans all press information regarding the agency as well as scanning other agency documents as needed for electronic document management. Assists other departments as needed with typing. Helps visitors to the agency get to the correct area. Collect rent payments for Property Management Department.
 
Position Requirements: Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with a wide variety of people, and knowledge of programs. Education and Experience: Must be comfortable with computers, databases, Excel and Word. Starting amount is $11.75 per hour.
