Kitchen Manager Assistant/Content Specialist III

Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., Aging and Nutrition Services is seeking a permanent full-time cook/assistant kitchen manager for the Mary Browning Senior Center Congregate and Meals on Wheels programs.
 
Duties include meal preparation, serving and/or packaging meals and clean-up. Candidate will manage kitchen in the absence of kitchen manager. Must be able to follow instruction, meet physical demands and work with older adults.

Maintenance Assistant

General Statement of Work: This position assists the Site Manager in performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of buses, vans and other equipment, including building maintenance. This positon works under the general supervision of the Site Manager.

Distinguishing Features: Performs major and minor engine repair and replacement work, inspections and repairs on vehicles or equipment, performs safety inspections in accordance with Federal and State Laws, installs, replaces parts, reassembles and tests a variety of drive train and engine equipment. Installs, replaces parts, reassembles and tests a variety of drive train and engine equipment. Installs bearings and effects proper adjustment: adjusts and installs brakes, performs electrical installation and repair work on buses and equipment such as batteries, terminal, lights, turn signals, fuses, etc. Installs and repairs exhaust systems. Responds to road calls and makes emergency repairs to disabled vehicles and equipment. May do welding and cutting. Maintains accurate records of maintenance performed and parts used. The work performed by this position affects the safety and security of the ridership and employees of Garrett Transit Service. This is a safety sensitive position and must meet all requirement of the GCCAC and federal drug and alcohol testing regulations.

Examples of work:
• Performs PM inspections on vehicles
• Maintains an accurate record of all work performed
• Repair electrical and fuel systems
• Assist the Site Manager in inventory control
• Install and adjust brakes
• Install and repair exhaust systems
• Maintain clean, safe maintenance shop
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on varied equipment
• Perform seasonal labor duties as required such as shoveling and plowing snow, spreading de-icing/anti-skid chemicals, mowing and trimming
• Perform daily custodial duties to maintain a safe, clean transportation facility
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel powered engines; working knowledge of the auto motive mechanic trade. Knowledge of the proper use and care of tools and equipment. Working knowledge of necessary safety precautions and skill in operating the tools and equipment used in automotive repair work. Must possess the ability to work independently, and be able to follow oral and written instructions accurately. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and representatives of MTA, PSC, MVA and other agencies.
 
Minimum Education, Experience and Training: High School Diploma or GED required, along with 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of passenger vehicles. Specialized courses in automotive diagnosis, maintenance, repair and/or inspection is desirable. Position requires a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.

Physical Requirements: This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and repetitive motions.

Substitutes for Classroom, LunchAid/Cook, Bus Aid and Clerical – Content Support and Content Specialist III
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. is accepting applications for substitute positions (Classroom, LunchAid/Cook, Bus Aid and Clerical - Content Support and Content Specialist III), within the Division of Child and Family Development
 
This position is responsible for working with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old in the classroom setting, preparing and serving family style meals to children and staff, safe transportation of children in an aid role to the bus driver and performing clerical duties. Substitutes are needed in all locations of the county with pay rates from $9.25 - $9.44 per hour based upon qualifications and position subbing in.
 
Minimum Qualifications include: HS Diploma or GED, must be 19 years old, completed or be willing to complete 99 clock hours in child development and the 45 hour Infant/Toddler Certification and/or the 45 hour School Age certification. One year of experience working with children a plus. Preference given to a candidate with an AA in Early Childhood Education plus experience.
 
The applicant must pass a criminal background check, possess a valid driver’s license and meet other pre-employment hiring criteria.
